While Ernie was in a fishing tournament this weekend, the rest of us took a short ride to Seaside, enjoyed an art show and ate fried pickels... a first for me!
About 15 years ago, Linda and I took a vacation in Seaside... it's so pretty.

Day 5 Destination - Memphis, Tennessee
Well, let's just say, this wasn't one of the more fun days on the journey.
It began great with again beautiful clear blue skies and lovely green grass and trees all along I-40 through both Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Then my blue tarp was having 'issues' which necessiated me pulling off several times and finally buying another roll of duct tape and some bungy cords at the Dollar Store.
This was already going to be a longer drive but this added extra time, so now I was crusing into Memphis right at rush hour.
Needless to say, I was a bit wiped out so didn't drive down Beale Street where the Blues was born. Nor did I grace Graceland, the home and burial place of you know who.

Day 4 Destination - Oklahoma City, OK
Another beautiful clear day as I left New Mexico but the wind was picking up in Texas and by the time I got to Oklahoma, my little truck was being pushed around a bit. Nevertheless, I arrived safely.
Enjoyed visiting Cadillac Ranch in Texas - see video below!

And in downtown Oklahoma City, chatted with a security guard who heard the explosion 15 years ago at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building while working down the street.
Oklahoma City National Memorial
Richard Irwin, Security Guard, explained the grass is where the building was and the 168 empty chairs are for all victims who lost their lives.

Day 2 Destination - Holbrook, Arizona
Woke up to a beautiful desert sunrise in Barstow. Had breakfast and hit the road by 7:30am. Made good time in spite of wind, snow flurries, hail, dust storm and rain ...not necessarily in that order but all within a few hours!
Arrived at Holbrook and stopped by the Wigwam Motel even though I didn't stay there. Read that they park old cars around to make it look like lots of customers - lol!

Yes, those are snow flakes!
Found pieces of petrified wood while walking around here... cool!
